The objective of this conference is to bring together mathematicians working on Splines, Subdivision and Approximation Theory and thereby provide a forum for researchers in the field to discuss topics of current interest.
The two-day meeting is dedicated to Jean-Louis Merrien on the occasion of his retirement from INSA.
Scientific background
There is a strong demand for mathematical methods related to the representation of curves and surfaces. SAT 2019 will thus include various fields in this domain: Approximation Theory, Computer Aided Geometric Design, Numerical Methods, Splines and related topics such as Multivariate Approximation, Wavelets, Subdivisions, Interpolation, Smoothing techniques, Splines, Radial Basis Functions, as well as applications in Geometric Modeling, Visualization and Mechanics.
There will be several invited, plenary talks. The invited speakers are:
Albert Cohen, Sorbonne University, France,
Costanza Conti, University of Florence, Italy,
Michael S. Floater, University of Oslo, Norway,
Kai Hormann, University of Lugano, Switzerland,
Tom Lyche, University of Oslo, Norway,
Carla Manni, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Italy,
Ulrich Reif, TH Darmstadt, Germany,
Tomas Sauer, Passau University, Germany,
Hendrik Speleers, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Italy.
Venue
The conference will take place at INSA Rennes starting Thursday November 21 at 2 pm and finishing Friday November 22 with Lunch. There will be a Galla dinner Thursday evening, for which a personal contribution of 30€ is expected.
Miscellaneous
There are direct fast trains (TGV) from Paris-Montparnasse railway station or Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport to Rennes (see Practical information -> Access menu).
